MentorLife® Summit 2020
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday, January 25, 2020
CU Denver Auraria Campus
1201 Larimer St, Denver, CO 80204
Event takes place in Student Commons building
The MentorLife® Summit (MLS), presented by FRIENDS FIRST, provides a mid-school year leadership training for mentors and provides powerful tools to encourage them to continue to make healthy, positive choices. MLS provides small group, large group, and workshop-style gatherings where activities and discussions focus on the ‘how-to’ aspects of being leaders in schools, communities and beyond.
The fifth annual MLS will focus on reinforcing the concept of Future Focus. The goal is for students to consider their next steps when they make decisions so they understand how the choices they make now will impact their lives in the future. The mentees in our STARS peer mentoring program often become mentors, and carry on their skills to be there for someone long after they leave high school. As a part of that effort, we will also hold a Resource Fair for the second year in a row, offering teens a chance to connect with companies in the Denver area!
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Resource Fair - Learn about cool opportunities in Denver
Held downtown - spend a day on a college campus
Cost is $5 for mentors, which covers lunch. Please register with your individual program coordinator. Cost for students not in FRIENDS FIRST programs is $25.
Students are encouraged to be dropped off or use public transportation. Limited parking is available in the 7th Street parking garage.
The event is held at the downtown campus of CU Denver, giving students a taste of college life. MLS is intended as a training for mentors enrolled in FRIENDS FIRST mentoring programs, but is open to other students as well, with limited space available.
