What brought you to FRIENDS FIRST?
I joined STARS as a mentor my freshman year of high school in Longmont. I stayed involved throughout high school and college as a volunteer. After college, I pursued elementary education for about three years and then I received a phone call from the executive director at the time saying she had an opening and wanted me to apply. I did, and I was hired to be a program educator. Six years later, and I’m still here and so glad to be.
How has a mentor impacted your life?
Mentoring, both having and being a mentor, has always been a significant thing in my life. Growing up I had some incredible mentors like Josh, Gina, Lisa and Mary Jean. I have seen first-hand how important it is to have people pour into my life so I can turn around and mentor others. I have had the joy and privilege of seeing students I have mentored become influencers, mentors and leaders in their communities. MentorLife is alive and well in my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
